What is Veo 3?

Google veo 3 is a video generation model that turns a text prompt or a still image into a short cinematic clip. It sits at the premium end of the category: slower than most models, around three minutes a run, and aimed at work where the output has to hold up on a client screen rather than in a feed.

Veo 3 AI is the generation most people mean when they say Veo, and Veo 3.1 is the current release in FLORA. Gemini veo 3 refers to the same family, since the model is served through Google’s Gemini stack. This page is updated in place as Google ships, so it describes what you can run today.

Quick facts

  • Modes: Text → Video · Image → Video.

  • Default duration: 8 seconds.

  • Resolution: 720p by default, 1080p available.

  • Aspect ratios: 16:9, 1:1, 9:16.

  • Estimated time: around 180 seconds in both modes.

  • Training / licensing: proprietary Google model. Text moderation follows Google’s usage policies.

What it’s great for

  • Premium productions where quality matters more than turnaround.

  • Cinematic sequences and professional content.

  • Commercial and enterprise video projects.

  • Hero shots that need to survive a big screen.

Veo versions

Veo 3 set the quality bar and Veo 3.1 is the build running in FLORA today. Both sit at the premium end of the category, trading speed for output that holds up on a large screen. Google Veo 3 free access is not something Google offers directly, but you can run the model on FLORA’s free tier before committing budget.

Prompt tips

  • Describe the camera move, not just the subject. Veo responds well to “slow dolly”, “push in”, “handheld”.

  • Name the lighting. Studio, golden hour and neon all read very differently.

  • Keep one action per clip at 8 seconds. Two beats in one shot usually muddies both.

Running Veo in FLORA

On the FLORA canvas Veo sits as a video block, so a prompt or a still feeds it directly and the clip flows onward without leaving the board. That is the difference from using a Veo 3 AI video generator on its own: the clip becomes one step in a workflow you keep. Both modes have a matching technique: use text to video AI for prompt-driven shots, or image to video AI and the AI image to video generator to animate a still you already have.

Because a three-minute run is expensive to redo, plan before you generate. Block the cuts with a storyboard maker, build the environment with a video scene builder, join shots using seamless transition, and finish with the video upscaler.

Models are interchangeable on the canvas, so run one shot list through Veo and a rival and compare. Try it against Kling or Seedance, or read our ranking of the best AI video generators. Specs live in the Veo model docs, and you can open a canvas and try it free.

Veo FAQs

Who makes Veo 3?

Google. It is served through the Gemini stack, which is why Gemini Veo 3 and Google Veo 3 AI refer to the same model.

What does Veo 3 cost?

Veo 3 pricing depends on where you run it. Inside FLORA it draws from workspace credits and scales with duration and resolution, so a 1080p clip costs more than 720p. You can start on the free tier to see output before committing.

Is there a Google Veo 3 AI video generator I can try free?

Yes, through FLORA’s free tier. You get the same Google Veo 3 AI video generation as a paid run, drawn from workspace credits, so you can judge the output before committing budget.

How long can a Veo clip be?

8 seconds by default, with other durations selectable. For anything longer, generate several shots and join them rather than asking for one long take.

Is Veo 3 better than other video models?

For cinematic quality it is at the top of the field, and it is slower for the same reason. If you need many iterations quickly, a faster model will serve you better and you can finish the winner on Veo.
