Seedance 2.0: ByteDance’s Multi-Shot AI Video Model
Seedance is ByteDance’s text-to-video and image-to-video model, built for coherent multi-shot sequences rather than single clips. Run it on the FLORA canvas next to every other video model.
What is Seedance?
Seedance is a proprietary video generation model from ByteDance. It takes a text prompt or a reference image and returns video, and its distinguishing trait is multi-shot coherence: it holds character, lighting, and motion continuity across several cuts inside a single generation, where most models return one continuous take.
The current release is Seedance 2.0. Asked plainly, what is Seedance AI good for in production? It is the model to reach for when a sequence has to read as edited footage rather than one clip. ByteDance Seedance is licensed for commercial use inside FLORA.
Quick facts
Modes: Text → Video · Image → Video (multi-shot).
Default clip length: 5 seconds, selectable from 3s to 12s.
Aspect ratios: 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16.
Resolution: 1080p by default, with 480p and 720p available.
Output format: MP4 (H.264 + AAC).
Estimated time: around 2 minutes in both modes.
Training / licensing: proprietary ByteDance model, licensed for commercial use within FLORA.
What it’s great for
Multi-shot narrative sequences and longer-form short clips.
High-coherence motion and smooth playback.
Storytelling use cases requiring multiple shots.
Product and campaign work where one look has to survive several cuts.
Seedance versions
What is Seedance 2.0, specifically? It is the multi-shot generation of the model, and it is what runs in FLORA today. Rather than maintain a page per release, this page is updated in place, so the Seedance 2.0 release date matters less than what the current model actually does. Earlier 1.0 and 1.5 builds are superseded.
Example outputs
Multi-shot storyboard | Cinematic shot | Scene frame |
Copy-and-paste prompts
Three-shot sequence: establish city skyline, mid shot of protagonist walking, close-up face, cinematic pacing, 10s total
Image→Video: animate product spin across three cuts, consistent lighting and reflections
Single-shot 1080p: slow crane up from street to rooftop, ambient city ambience

Prompt tips
Break multi-shot intent into clear shot descriptions (shot 1:, shot 2:, shot 3:).
Use pacing terms like “slow”, “cut-to”, “dolly”, and exact durations.
Name the continuity you need. Say which character, wardrobe, or lighting has to hold across cuts.
Fix the seed once a look is right, then change only the shot list.
Running Seedance in FLORA
Inside FLORA the Seedance 2.0 AI video generator sits on the canvas as a video block, so a text or image block can feed it directly and its output can flow onward without leaving the board. That is the practical difference from using a standalone Seedance AI video tool you open in another tab: the model is one step in a workflow you keep, not a session you lose.
Both modes of the Seedance AI video generator have a matching technique you can run straight away. Use text to video AI for prompt-driven multi-shot sequences, or image to video AI and the AI image to video generator to animate a still you already have.
Because a multi-shot model rewards planning, the sequence usually starts upstream. Block the cuts with a storyboard maker, build environments with a video scene builder, generate with Seedance through the cinematic movie generator, join shots using seamless transition, and finish with the video upscaler.
Models are interchangeable on the canvas, so you can run one shot list through Seedance and a rival model side by side. Compare it against Kling, Veo, and Runway Gen-4, or read our ranking of the best AI video generators. Full parameters live in the Seedance model docs, and you can open a canvas and try it free.

Seedance FAQs
Who owns Seedance?
Seedance is built and owned by ByteDance, through its Seed research team. It is a proprietary model, not open source, and ByteDance Seedance is licensed for commercial use inside FLORA.
Is Seedance a Chinese company?
Seedance is a model, not a company. Its parent, ByteDance, is headquartered in Beijing and is also the company behind TikTok and CapCut. If your organisation has procurement rules about model provenance, that is the fact to check against.
Is Seedance free to use?
You can try Seedance without paying by starting on FLORA’s free tier, which lets you run it next to other video models before committing budget. Longer clips and higher resolutions consume more credits, so cost scales with duration and output size rather than a flat per-video fee.
Is Seedance any good?
For multi-shot narrative work it is one of the strongest options available, because it holds continuity across cuts inside one generation. It is less obviously the right pick for a single hero shot, where a model tuned for one continuous take may look better. The honest test is whether your brief has more than one shot in it.
What is the difference between Seedance and Seedance 2.0?
Seedance is the model family and Seedance 2.0 is the current multi-shot generation running in FLORA. This page is updated in place as new versions ship, so it always describes what you can actually run today rather than a specific release.
