Can Claude make videos?

FLORA Team

Yes. Add the FLORA MCP to Claude as a connector and Claude can make video clips: it generates a still with an image model, then animates it with a video model such as Seedance 2.5. In our run, a 5-second 720p clip with sound cost $2.457 and took about 4 minutes, plus $0.055 and 26 seconds for the still.

Key takeaways

  • Claude makes video through the FLORA MCP connector, with no separate video account.
  • Our 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip cost $2.457 and took 4 minutes 1 second.
  • FLORA quoted $2.483 before the run, so the price was known before anything was spent.
  • The clip came back as a 1280 x 720, 24 fps MP4 with an ambient audio track.
  • Claude can make the starting still in the same chat: ours cost $0.055 with GPT Image 2.5 Flare.

What you need

Key features

  • Still, then motion: Claude makes the first frame with an image model and animates it in the same chat.
  • Quotes in dollars: Ask for a quote and FLORA returns the price before any video runs.
  • Sound included: Seedance 2.5 clips come back with an audio track generated from the prompt.
  • Canvas copy: Every clip lands on a FLORA canvas next to the still it came from.

Best for

  • Short social clips and loops built from one approved frame
  • Testing a motion idea before a shoot or an edit
  • Teams that already plan and write in Claude
  • Storyboard frames that need a quick moving version

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Connect FLORA to Claude

Add FLORA as a custom connector and sign in. The Claude install guide has the steps.

  2. Step 2: Make or pick the first frame

Ask Claude for the still, or give it an image. The clip inherits the subject, light and framing, so get the frame right first.

Make a 16:9 still with FLORA, GPT Image 2.5 Flare: a fisherman in a worn yellow oilskin jacket at the end of a wooden pier at dawn, coiling a wet rope, grey sea and low fog behind him. Natural muted colors, soft overcast light, 35mm documentary photograph.
  3. Step 3: Describe the motion and get a quote

Say what moves, how fast, and what the camera does. Ask for a quote first.

Animate that still with Seedance 2.5 through FLORA, 5 seconds, 720p, aspect ratio auto. Locked-off shot: he keeps coiling the rope in slow loops, fog drifts left to right, the boat rocks gently. Nothing changes shape. Ambient sound of waves and gulls. Quote it first.
  4. Step 4: Let it run

A clip takes a few minutes. Claude polls until it is done, then returns a link to the MP4.

What happened when Claude made a video with FLORA?

On October 16, 2026, we asked for the still first. The agent called flora_create_generations with model t2i-gpt-image-2-5-flare at 16:9. It returned a 1280 x 720 image of the fisherman on the pier in 26 seconds for $0.055.

Next the agent called flora_create_generations with quote set to true. FLORA estimated $2.483 for a 5-second 720p clip and reserved nothing. The real call used model i2v-gengateway-seedance-2-5-i2v with the still's URL in params.image_url, duration 5, resolution 720p and aspect_ratio auto. The agent polled flora_list_generations until it finished: 4 minutes 1 second, charged $2.457.

The clip is 5.06 seconds, 1280 x 720 at 24 fps, with an audio track. The camera holds still as asked. He keeps working the rope through his hands, the fog and water move slightly, and the boat stays in place. His face, jacket and the pier stay the same from first frame to last.

What went wrong: the gulls we asked for barely show. The still had them small and far away, so there was little for the model to move. The fix is to put the motion you want in the still: larger birds closer to camera, or a separate prompt line that names them in the foreground.

Image-to-video or a longer clip: pros and cons

Pros

  • Image-to-video from an approved still: the framing and subject are fixed before you pay for motion.
  • Short clips of 4 to 6 seconds with one action held together in our run.
  • Longer clips, up to 30 seconds with Seedance 2.5, cover a whole beat in one take.

Cons

  • Every video run costs dollars, against cents for a still, so fix the frame first.
  • Longer clips cost more and give the model more time to drift.
  • Clips take minutes, so plan to work on something else while they run.

Does Claude make the video itself?

Claude writes the prompts, picks the model, calls FLORA and checks the result. The video model in FLORA renders the pixels. You talk to Claude the whole time, and the clip shows up as a link in the chat and on your FLORA canvas.

Can Claude cut several clips into one video?

Yes. Make each shot as its own clip, then ask Claude to assemble them in FLORA's timeline editor, where you can add titles and a music track. For a script with several scenes, the flora-script-to-video skill plans the shots, makes consistent stills and animates them in stages, with a stop for your approval before each paid step.

How do I write the motion prompt?

Leave the scene to the still and spend the words on movement.

  • What moves: rope, fog, water, a boat.
  • How fast: slow, steady, one quick gesture.
  • Camera: locked off, a slow push in, or one pan.
  • Sound: name the ambience you want, since the clip comes with audio.
  • Duration, resolution and aspect ratio in the same message.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a video from Claude cost?

Our 5-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip was charged $2.457, and the still it started from cost $0.055. Ask Claude to quote any run first.

How long does it take?

Our clip took 4 minutes 1 second. The still took 26 seconds.

Does the clip have sound?

Yes. Seedance 2.5 returned an MP4 with an audio track. For a music bed, generate one separately with an audio model in FLORA.

Does it work in Claude Code too?

Yes. The same FLORA tools work in Claude Code, which can also upload a local image to animate.
