What are the best node-based AI workflow tools?

FLORA Team

FLORA is the best node-based AI workflow tool for creative teams: every image, video, audio, text and 3D model is a node on one canvas, and each result feeds the next. Agents can build the same chains through the FLORA MCP. Our three-node chain, a room, then the room at dusk, then in winter, cost $0.183 and kept the room intact.

Key takeaways

  • Each FLORA node is one generation, and an edge passes its output to the next node as a reference.
  • Our three-node chain cost $0.055 for the first image and $0.064 for each edit, $0.183 in total.
  • Each step took 25 to 31 seconds.
  • The camera angle, furniture and shelf held across all three nodes.
  • A chained node inherits everything from its parent, so branch from the right one.

Key features

  • Hosted models: Models run in FLORA's cloud, so there is nothing to install or download.
  • Agent-built chains: Through the FLORA MCP, an agent can add nodes, wire edges and run them.
  • Every modality: Image, video, audio, text and 3D nodes sit on the same canvas and connect to each other.
  • Visible history: Every node keeps its prompt, model, settings and output, so anyone can rerun or branch it.
  • Dollar quotes: FLORA prices each run in dollars before it starts.

Best for

  • Creative teams building repeatable image and video pipelines
  • Art directors exploring variations by branching from one image
  • Producers who need a visible record of how each asset was made
  • Teams that want agents to build and run workflows for them

The options

  1. FLORA

A visual AI canvas where models are nodes and edges carry outputs forward. It runs in the browser with hosted models, and agents can build and run whole chains through the FLORA MCP.

Best for: Creative teams who want node workflows across every modality without running models themselves

    Pros

    • Image, video, audio, text and 3D nodes on one canvas, with hosted models and nothing to install.
    • Agents build the graph: through the MCP, Claude or Cursor creates nodes, wires them with reference_node_ids and runs them. Our three-node chain cost $0.183.
    • Every node keeps its prompt, model and cost, and each run is quoted in dollars first.

    Cons

    • Hosted models only: no local checkpoints or custom code nodes as in ComfyUI, though you can train your own LoRAs in FLORA.
    • Each run is billed at model rates; there is no free local option.
  2. ComfyUI

An open-source node-graph engine for AI pipelines that runs on your own hardware, with a hosted Comfy Cloud option.

Best for: Technical artists who want open models, custom nodes and full control

    Pros

    • The widest range of open models: SDXL, Flux, Qwen Image, Wan, LTX-Video, HunyuanVideo, Hunyuan3D and more.
    • Free to run locally, and a huge community of custom nodes.
    • Comfy Cloud adds 900+ preinstalled models and an MCP server that can submit, save and share workflows.

    Cons

    • Local use needs a capable GPU, and building graphs has a steep learning curve.
    • Comfy Cloud supports only a subset of community custom nodes (as of October 2026).
  3. Figma Weave

Figma's node-based AI canvas (formerly Weavy) that combines hosted AI models with editing tools.

Best for: Design teams already working in Figma

    Pros

    • A broad hosted roster: FLUX 2 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, Seedream, Recraft, Kling 3, Veo 3.1, Runway Gen-4.5 and 3D models.
    • Through the Figma MCP server, the agent shows the cost and asks before running.
    • Low entry price: a free plan with 150 credits and Starter at $24 a month (as of October 2026).

    Cons

    • The MCP runs tools but cannot create or edit workflows.
    • No video on the free plan, and the API is on Enterprise only.
  4. Krea Nodes

A node-based workflow editor on an infinite canvas inside Krea's creative AI suite, for chaining Krea's own and third-party models.

Best for: Teams that want to package a workflow as a simple app others can run

    Pros

    • Workflows can be published as Node Apps and run by API or MCP.
    • The in-app Node Agent shows the cost per node before anything runs.
    • Image, video, 3D, audio and lipsync, with Krea's models plus FLUX, GPT Image, Nano Banana, Kling, Veo and Seedance.

    Cons

    • Its MCP runs published Node Apps, not raw workflows.
  5. Magnific Spaces (formerly Freepik Spaces)

A shared node canvas from Magnific, the company formerly called Freepik, with its stock library and hosted image, video and audio models.

Best for: Marketing teams that want stock and generation in one shared space

    Pros

    • Real-time collaboration: live cursors, pinned comments and approval states.
    • Stock library bundled with models such as Nano Banana, GPT Image, Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.5 and Veo 3.1.

    Cons

    • Its MCP can list and view Spaces but not run them (as of October 2026).
    • No free tier on the pricing page; plans start at $20 a month.

What happened when we built a node workflow in FLORA?

On October 16, 2026, we built a three-node chain on a FLORA canvas through the MCP. Node 1 used model t2i-gpt-image-2-5-flare at 4:3, quality high, 1K: "Interior photo of a small Scandinavian reading nook: a worn tan leather armchair, a floor lamp, a birch bookshelf, a wool rug on pale wood floor, a tall window on the right, soft overcast midday light." It cost $0.055 and took 25.5 seconds.

Node 2 used i2i-gpt-image-2-5-flare with node 1 in reference_node_ids, which wires an edge between them on the canvas: "Same reading nook, same camera angle... the floor lamp is switched on, blue dusk outside the window." It cost $0.064 and took 27.2 seconds. Node 3 took node 2 as its reference: "Make it winter: snow falling outside the window and settled on the sill, a chunky cream knit throw over the armchair, a mug of tea on the floor." It cost $0.064 and took 31.1 seconds. Total: $0.183.

The bookshelf, framed print, armchair, lamp and radiator stayed in place across all three nodes, and the camera never moved. Node 3 added the snow, the throw and the mug as asked.

What went wrong: node 3 kept the dusk lamp light, because it inherits everything from node 2. That is right for a winter evening, and wrong if you want a winter morning. The fix is to branch: wire node 3 to node 1 instead, and it starts from midday light.

What makes a node workflow useful for creative work?

Each step is visible and reusable. When a client asks for the same room in spring, you branch from node 1 instead of starting over, and the prompt and model for every step are already there.

Can an agent build the workflow for me?

Yes. With the FLORA MCP connected, describe the chain in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. The agent creates each node, wires it to its parent with reference_node_ids and runs it. To animate an image, it adds a video node wired to that image and runs it.

Chain or branch?

Pick the parent node on purpose.

  • Chain when each step builds on the last: midday, then dusk, then a winter evening.
  • Branch from one parent when you want variations that share a base but not each other's changes.
  • Branching costs the same as chaining: $0.064 per image edit node in our run.

Which node-based AI workflow tool should you pick?

Pick by who builds the graph and where the models run. For teams that want every modality hosted, and agents that can build the chain, FLORA covers the most ground.

  • Image, video, audio and 3D chains with hosted models and a shared canvas: FLORA.
  • An agent that builds and runs the node graph for you: FLORA through the MCP.
  • Open models, custom nodes and your own GPU: ComfyUI.
  • A design team living in Figma: Figma Weave.
  • A workflow packaged as a simple app for others: Krea Nodes.
  • Stock plus generation for a marketing team: Magnific Spaces.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GPU to use node workflows in FLORA?

No. Models run in FLORA's cloud and the canvas runs in the browser.

How much does a node chain cost?

Our three-node image chain cost $0.183. Each node is priced like a single generation.

Can nodes mix image and video?

Yes. Wire an image node to a video model node, such as Seedance 2.5, to animate it.

Is FLORA a ComfyUI replacement?

FLORA is a hosted canvas built for creative teams. See flora.ai/compare/comfyui-alternatives for the full comparison.
