What is an object remover, and how does it fill in the gap?
An object remover takes something you don't want out of a photo and rebuilds the area behind it, so the finished image looks like the thing was never in the shot. Why "eraser" is a slightly misleading word
An eraser in a traditional photo editor does what the name says. It deletes pixels and leaves white or transparency behind, and then you're cloning and patching and blending until the seam stops showing. If you've ever used an object eraser that way, you know how the rest of the afternoon goes.
An AI image eraser inverts that. It takes the pixels out and then generates new ones, reading the rest of the photo to work out what was probably sitting behind whatever you deleted, so brick keeps coursing and grass keeps its direction instead of turning into a smudge.
How it works out what goes back in
The fill leans on the rest of the image in three ways. Surrounding pixels tell the model what material it's dealing with. Perspective tells it that a floor receding toward a corner has to keep receding at the same rate through the patched area. Lighting tells it the new region needs the same brightness, color temperature, and shadow direction as its neighbors, which is usually the thing that gives a bad edit away.

Why some removals are harder than others
