# Introducing Fieldwork, FLORA's creative AI learning program

FLORA

We know things feel uncertain for creatives right now. New tools arrive every week, client expectations are shifting, and the skills studios and brands hire for suddenly seem out of reach. Most of the creatives we talk to have already decided to learn AI. What they want to know is where to start, and who to trust.

We built Fieldwork to answer both. It's live education taught by working creatives who have already figured out how to bring AI into their own process, so you can stay confident and in control of your career through this shift.

## Why we're investing in education

A creative's job has stayed the same through every new medium. Tools change _how_ a piece gets made, but the creative still decides what it says and how it should make people feel.

How people come to a tool does change, and it shapes how well they use it. Most painters picked up a brush after seeing a painting that moved them. They knew what they were reaching for before they learned any technique. So we think a company that makes creative tools owes people the painting first. Show them work worth wanting to make, help them build the judgment to get there, and save the feature list for later.

AI reached most creatives the other way around, through viral demos, scattered YouTube tutorials and endless hype, and Fieldwork is our attempt to reverse that order.

## For creatives, by creatives

Fieldwork is for designers, art and creative directors, filmmakers and fashion designers who want to work out where AI fits into their practice. Every instructor is one of our [Forward Deployed Creatives](https://flora.ai/blog/what-is-a-forward-deployed-creative.md). They spend most of their week alongside in-house and agency teams, working out where AI fits into real production, and that time in the field is where Fieldwork gets its name. Catherine Chung, who leads the Certificate, spent three and a half years at Pentagram. Kate Burmatnova, who leads the Fashion Intensive, designed knitwear for New York fashion houses for 18 years.

Fieldwork runs from short on-demand tutorials up to a six-week cohort, and we add new free and paid sessions every month.

- **Fieldwork On-Demand** is a free library of tutorials under 20 minutes each, covering the basics of bringing AI into your creative process. Start here if you've never opened an AI tool.
- **Fieldwork Webinars** are free live sessions on one professional use case, led by FLORA's team and guest creatives from the industry.
- **Fieldwork Labs** are free two-hour live workshops where you work on the canvas with an instructor and a small group. We cover the FLORA credits you use, so you can experiment without worrying about cost.
- **Fieldwork Intensives** spend four weeks on a single discipline, starting with fashion and film, for creatives who want depth in their own craft. FLORA access is included.
- **The Fieldwork Certificate** is our signature program. Over six weeks, a live cohort takes two of their own projects from brief to portfolio-ready work, with live instruction and small-group critique every week. You leave with two case studies, a FLORA certificate and a 30-day check-in after the program ends. FLORA access is included.

We teach using the FLORA platform because it's the tool our instructors know best. Most of what's taught carries over to any tool you use later, like how to brief a model, how to judge what it gives you, and when to stop generating and start editing by hand.

## Making creatives more powerful

In the right hands, AI means more ideas explored, more directions tested and more time for the work that matters most. Many of the creatives who come to us start out as skeptics, and we welcome that. What changes their minds is realizing they're the ones who decide how AI fits into their work.

> "I was admittedly a skeptic of using AI in my creative work until I took the [FLORA] course. What feels empowering as a designer is that creatives should have a say over how AI tools are used."

> Luke, motion designer, Nashville

In our first Certificate cohort, creatives went from their first session on the canvas to portfolio-ready work in six weeks, and came out as more capable versions of the designers and directors they already were. For some, the payoff came before the program ended.

> "In an industry fearful of AI, this program reaffirms that we're not going anywhere, and if anything, we're needed more than ever as tastemakers and protectors of quality."

> Emily, brand director, New York City

Over time, we want the Fieldwork Certificate to become something studios, agencies and brands look for when they hire.

## Join the next cohort

The next [Certificate cohort](https://flora.ai/fieldwork/live) starts November 11. If you'd rather start small, come to a [free Lab](https://flora.ai/fieldwork/live) this month, and bring a project you're working on. We can’t wait to see what you create.
